Sliding and slithering, It comes from below, Glistening in its new found light, And smirking at the world. Snapping and snorting, It pounces from behind, Raking across other's flesh, And laughing as it does. Dripping and slurping, It walks around the corpse, Drinking of its victims blood, And leering with each sip. Swaying and swaggering, It returns to its home, Daring anyone to follow, And leaving them helpless.

He enters the dusty room and stares around. To anyone else it'd just be a run down old soup kitchen but to him it reeked of home. Running fingers along the bench, the man breaks into a crooked smile as the dust collects on the edge of his index. What had compelled him to return? There was nothing left here for anyone – not even him. Perhaps it was the way things had been going recently; the imminent sense of pain or maybe even death. For him, the stagnant air offered some small comfort. It was a refuge from the horrors of the outside world. A small window into the man's past. Soon the wind pushes at my walls, And slowly my great house falls. I stand alone in my driveway, As you all have left to find another way.
